What is the full form of MRI

Full Form of MRI – Magnetic Resonance Imaging

The full form of MRI is Magnetic Resonance Imaging.  It is also called  MRT ( magnetic resonance tomography) and NMRI (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

It is an imaging technique which is used to visualise the internal structures of a body. It is so effective that, it results are cleaner than the X-Ray.

Basically, the MRI technique is uses radiology to study the anatomy and physiology of the body. MRI Scanners used strong magnetic fields along with radio waves together to form clear images of the human body.

MRI Uses – When to use MRI?

MRI technique has a wide range of applications in the medical diagnosis. It is used to detect the following diseases very accurately and also it is also used to diagnose:

  • Brain Tumors.
  • Spine problems.
  • Trauma to the head or brain.
  • Heart problems and strokes.
  • Liver and other abdominal diseases.
  • Abnormalities of the brain and spinal cord.
  • Joints and bones.
  • Uterine abnormalities in women.

MRI Scan VS CT Scan

What is the Difference between MRI Scan and CT Scan?

CT Scan stands for Computed Tomography Scan.

The followings are some major difference between MRI scan and CT scan:

  1. MRI Scan images of internal body parts are more superior than CT scan images.
  2. The cost of MRI Scan is higher than the CT Scan.
  3. MRI is safer than CT Scan as it does not expose the potentially harmful radiation while CT Scan still possesses such as a risk.
